July 2017 Newsletter:
The Freedom to Quilt What You Want!
Dear Sisters in Thread,
So I am looking at this newsletter’s headline and smiling because in quilting you are really free to express the inner you. Love reproduction prints? You can use them. Can’t stand applique? Forget about it! Want to make a photo quilt? A t-shirt quilt? A modern masterpiece? Well quilting lets you do it all while expressing the inner you. That, my friends, is freedom! One of the most loving things you can do is give a quilt; to family, friends, lovers or strangers. So many of you give quilts not even knowing who will finally be able to wrap them around themselves in protection and love. I have to say that fact is the one that humbles me every time. So thank you.
In July it seems we are busy and a little frantic when we realize that summer is fleeting. But I want us all to slow down and take a breath. Come stitch a little with us. Introduce a child to a sewing machine. See the possibilities. The beginning of this month, we will be closed as always for the Fourth of July. But we will open again on Wednesday the 5th, ready to help you!
This month we continue with our paper piecing classes, our knitting, wool stitcheries, and other clubs. But we are adding a Collage Class (3 sessions) for all of you who have expressed an interest the Laura Heine designs. The My Kinda Town paper piecing classes continue too!
On Thursday, July 6, Jeanette is here for the HQ Club meeting from 10 am to noon. This is a great resource to those of you with longarms and you always learn something new. It is free if you bought your HQ from us or $5 to those who didn’t.
We have had a lot of people asking if we do children’s classes. What we are offering is private, or semi-private, classes to introduce a child (age 8 and up) to the sewing machine. The child gets to pick out their favorite 2 fabrics from anywhere in the store to make a pillowcase. We guide them through the process on our machines and they will go home with a finished piece. The cost is $25 for the 1-2 hours of instruction and includes the fabric. We suggest that we keep the class size to 1-2 children. Please call the shop to schedule this if you are interested. Our hours are flexible to fit your schedule!
We also want to remind you that Row by Row Shop Hop is in full swing! Stop by for your free
pattern or $13 kit of “Up, Up, and Away!” We also have cute license plates for sale!
