January 2017 Newsletter:

A New Year of Possibilities

Dear Sisters in Thread,

Greetings in the New Year! So many firsts are happening in 2017! We hope you will take time to come in and take the first steps in creating some lasting memories for those you love! We would love to help you.

Do you want to learn to quilt? Our beginning class is starting on Tuesday January 24 at 1-3 pm for six weeks. We cover how to pick fabric, how to cut and piece and at least 3 ways to applique. Classes also cover hand and machine quilting. You make a real quilt in class, not just a wall hanging! If you have ever wanted to learn, this is the class for you! You don’t have to lug a heavy sewing machine either! Space is limited, so please sign up as soon as you can!

So have you told yourself every year that you really need a tree skirt? And then promptly found an old bedsheet to wrap around your tree? Sound familiar? Well this Saturday January 7 we have an easy tree skirt to make and you will be ready for future tree decorating! The class is FREE with the purchase of our kit. I made two of these from Gina’s pattern this year and I can attest that they are not only easy but really attractive too.

We are also having a Fat Quarter Friday where we bring you lots of ideas for using those pesky and pretty fat quarters we all collect! Come in and check it out on Friday, Jan. 13.

Is hand embroidery your passion? Deanna Van Assche is back with creative stitching on Friday Jan. 6 and 27, from 1-3 pm.

We have clubs for knitting, scrap quilts and dolls. We have a new session of the Kim Diehl Simple What Knots club forming. And there are also some new Blocks of the Month to be revealed soon. Free demos are given every Thursday at 2 pm and are announced at the beginning of each week by email.

And just a look into February here: We will be open on Super Bowl Sunday Feb. 5 and will be vending at the Frankenmuth Winterfest Quilt Show Feb. 19-21.

So you can see, there are lots a great things to get your creativity started here!
