Celebrate National Quilting Day with Us!
Dear Sisters in Thread,
The dust is settling from doing Inventory (yes, I capitalize it!) and it is time to take a break with a cup of tea and to take a look at the wonderful new line of Downton Abbey fabric that came in a few days ago! It is so pretty! It is turning out to be another cold but wonderful winter here at the shop and the creativity just continues to flow. We are beginning the month of March with a celebration of Small Quilts! They may be small but they pack a lot of beauty into their small size. We will have our display of Small Quilts up beginning March 5 and hope you will come in and admire them and perhaps be motivated to make a small beauty to fill a space in your own home.
In the spirit of the small quilt we will begin new sessions of the Jo Morton Club and Kim Diehl Club this month. They are fabulously fun and you just need to call us at 586-727-1555 for more information or to sign up. There are day and evening sessions to suit your schedule. Jo Morton Club will meet 11-12:30 and 6-7:30 on Wednesday March 18. Kim Diehl Club will meet 11-12:30 and 6-7:30 on Wednesday March 25.
As our headline says, we want you to come in and celebrate National Quilting Day with us this month. On Friday March 20 and Saturday March 21 we are doing some demos and offering a “Pick Your Own Discount Sale” of 15% to 25% off your purchase of regular priced fabrics, notions, yarn, books and patterns. You will want to mark your calendar and stop in for the festivities.
For those of you who want to try something new this month, Sue is teaching a Cinnamon Sticks Quilt that features easy-pieced curves and a modern look on Saturday March 28 from 10 to 4 pm ($20).
We will have a new meeting of the Handi Quilter Club on Thursday March 5 from 10 am to noon. This is a great club for those of you who own long-arm machines and want to improve your skills. For knitters and crocheters we have the Knit Club on the first and third Tuesday evenings (March 3 & 17) from 6:30-8:30. Each session offers friendship and help on your own projects. Knit Club is $5 per session until you reach the $35 mark and then it is free through the December meetings. We also have a great ongoing (and you can join at any time) Crazy Quilting Class taught by Deanna VanAssche. It is a great place to enhance your embroidery skills and meets on Friday March 6 and 20 from 1-3 pm for $10 per session. You must call to register ahead of time, please!
