Autumn Bliss at Sew Together

October 2014

Dear Sisters in Thread,

It’s the month of ghostly ghouls and sticky spiders and lots and lots of fun making Halloween quilts, pillowcases, table runners and bags! It is also a great time for UFOs! We are starting a UFO (unfinished objects!) Club and all of you can be winners! Here is how it will work: Come in and sign up in October as early as possible.  We will keep track for you so you don’t have to struggle with any cards to punch, etc. You will bring in what you need to finish and we will make note of it and categorized as follows: 10 points for needing to finish binding only. 20 points for needing to finish putting rows together & binding. 30 points for needing to put blocks together into rows, assembling rows and binding.40 points for needing to finish making blocks, putting into rows, assembling rows and binding.  On April 1 we will tally all your points and first prize is $100 gift certificate, second prize $50 gift certificate and third prize is a new kit of our choosing!

At the same time, since you are a member of the UFO club, you will get a 25% discount on backing, batting, binding and even thread on any pre-registered projects! Projects must be bigger 60” square or larger. So even if you don’t win for the most projects completed, you win by getting a big discount on what you intend to finish! A great way to beat the upcoming winter blues, don’t you think?!

We also are putting our Halloween Fabric on sale (30% Off!) before Halloween! From October 14 through October 31, all our Halloween Novelty Prints will be 30% off. Don’t miss the opportunity to add to your stash! We also want to remind you we have some wonderful yarns for gift-giving projects on sale at 35% off! A great scarf, hat and gloves (or even sweater) could be in the works for someone you love!

Our six-week course in Beginning Quilting by hand or machine also starts on Oct. 6. Every Monday from 6:30-8:30 in the evening you can learn the basics of piecing, appliqué and quilting and binding.  Our project makes a great gift, too.  You do not need to lug a sewing machine back and forth, which makes it even easier to handle!  The price for the class is $60 plus supplies (you get a discount in the store, too!).Call to register!

We are authorized Handi Quilter dealers and can offer you a great quilting experience with these American-made, high-quality quilting machines!  Please call us for a test drive on the HQ18 Avante or the HQ16 Sit Down models in our store!  We offer sales and authorized repairs on Handi Quilters – even if you didn’t buy your machine from us (too bad!)
