Summer Fun at Sew Together

August 2014

Dear Sisters in Thread,

Gina and I have been having fun this summer planning all sorts of new things at the shop.  Of course new things means we have to get rid of some old things, so we are having a Sample Sale from August 5 through 9.  It’s a great time to pick up some items that maybe just need a little finishing or not and are great for your home décor or gift giving!

We also are in a baby kind of mood! During Baby Week August 19-23, we will have some great ideas for quick and darling baby gifts! We have been collecting ideas and you will love them!

Kim Diehl’s What Nots Club is starting this month too! We have her new collection of beautiful fabrics, her wonderful books and now her club begins! To join for 6 months, it is just $25 and includes your patterns binder. There will be prizes awarded at each club meeting and lots of good fun to share.  There are three different club times to choose from: Wednesday Aug. 20 from 11am to 12:30 pm and 6 pm to 7:30 pm.  There is also a Saturday session on Saturday Aug. 23 from 11-12:30. Please pre-register for this club!!!

We also want to announce our Good Old Days Bag Challenge. We got a shipment of wonderful extra-large Jute shopping bags (great for grocery shopping and more). They are just $10. We want to challenge you to decorate your bag in any way you want and bring it to us to display in our windows during the town’s Good Old Days Sept. 4-7! Our customers will vote on their favorite and the winner will receive a $35 gift certificate from us (it pays for your bag and the start of your next project!). No rules on the decorating and we will accept your bag for display on Sept 2-3! A fun little thing to start the fall off and we hope you will participate!

Do you love beautiful hand-embroidery? Our expert Deanna VanAssche is teaching a class in Needle Lace Embroidery in 2 sessions starting Fri. Aug. 29 (1-3 pm), $20. Come in and see our sample shirt…but remember no two are alike!

Of course, August wouldn’t be any fun without a sale too! So all month long if you buy 6 fat quarters, you will get 2 free!  Don’t miss this chance to stock up.  And don’t forget this is the best time to get your Halloween and Christmas fabrics and begin those fall projects!

We are so pleased with all the traffic from our Row by Row Experience Shop Hop!  And we are still looking for a winner from our shop! So stop in for your free pattern and get sewing ladies! Our kits are only $12 for our Fishing Hole Row and include the buttons for the fish eyes!

Above is a sneak peek at the first four projects in our new Curvy Club beginning in September. The monthly classes are free; you just have to purchase your Curvy ruler, sampler pattern and fabric from us and them come every month and make another block! There are 12 blocks in all and you will finish a block in class every month! You choose your fabric palette, and there is even a bonus 13th class that will teach a curved sashing and border to put the whole quilt together! You must sign up ahead of time and purchase your fabric before class! You can choose an evening session on Thurs. Sept. 25 (7-9 pm) or morning session Tues. Sept. 30 (10-noon).

So in addition to the clubs mentioned above, don’t forget that Knitting Club meets Aug. 5 and 19 from 6:30-8:30 pm.  We work on our own projects, but there is always help available! Fun Fridays happen on Aug. 1, 15 and 29 from 5-9 pm. It’s only $5 and a dish to pass while you work on your own projects. Civil War enthusiasts love our Dear Jane Club (free) from 11-2 on Wednesday Aug. 13. And of course our ever-popular Jo Morton Club meets Wed. Aug 6 (11-1) and Sat. Aug. 9 (1-3).

We want to remind you to go to www.sewtogetheronline.com to sign up for our newsletter. It is easy to do and when you submit your email you will receive a free pattern! We would also like to encourage you to “Like” us on Facebook because we post quick pictures and updates there for your information.

We are authorized Handi Quilter dealers and can offer you a great quilting experience with these American-made, high-quality quilting machines!  Please call us for a test drive on the HQ18 Avante or the HQ16 Sit Down models in our store!  We offer sales and authorized repairs on Handi Quilters – even if you didn’t buy your machine from us (too bad!)

Class Policy: We offer all students of paid classes a 15% discount on all regular priced merchandise. You must register for classes early since we must notify the teacher with the number of registered students. Please don’t assume we know you are coming. Classes without the minimum number of students will be cancelled. If we have to cancel a class your registration is fully refundable. There is no refund if you cancel a class with less than a week’s notice unless there are special circumstances. In-store credit will be given under special circumstances, but Gina or Sue must personally Okay this. Call us at (586)727-1555.

Hours: Tues.-Thurs. 10-5, Friday 10-7, Sat. 10-4. Closed Sundays and Mondays

Thank you and God bless all of you for your continued friendship and support! It means so much to us!

Gina and Sue, the Sew Together women
